Altar and Atelier

Today I was inspired to cook. Probably because I slept for 11 hours and cought-up all my lack of sleep! John bought these weird looking pink oranges (Chloe loved them because they are pink) and I put them choped in one of the bowls I made. Everything tastes better in a bowl or plate we make! Hahaha. I cooked tilapia with herbs, pepper lemon and butter and it was great and light. We are going to have guests from Salt Lake City for dinner, so I started dinner already. I made cookies to drink with coffee (resquicios de Uberaba), a healthy recipe though with Flax seed, cranberries, dehidrated cherries, less butter, walnuts, nhummy! And for dinner dessert I'm making Manjar Branco, my mom's recipe that was my grandfather's favorite! And a chicken bake with cheese and plain white rice. I just realised today that my kitchen is a mixture between an altar with my Virgen Mary and Arcanjo Miguel images, candles for prayers, my bags of clay everywhere, and food! And I almost forgot, my computer is now in the kitchen too, because John kicked me out of the officce.

We've been busy since Valentine's Day. Niko made a Cd with his favorite songs to all his classmates. Chloe and I baked heart shaped sugar cookies to her friends. We went to the Rio Verde River to get rocks for my fountain project, and John filled up all his truck bed with small rocks for Jeff's driveway drainage system. Niko has his science project to finish today and take to school tomorrow, so we'll be very busy. They don't have school today. It's president's day. Saturday we got a box from my friend Cristina, from Brazil, full of goodies and gifts for all! WEEEEEEEEEEEEE! We loved it! I want to find some time to do my ceramics at home...sniff, sniff, NO class today...

Snow and Princesses

Today was cold, 32 degrees at 9am and the mountains behind our house were all white! I took grandpa to the doctor, then we had a princess movie afternoon with popcorn and dress-up party! I took more ceramics to fire and hopefully they'll be ready in time for the fair in the Desert Botanical Garden! My first time selling my stuff! Today I felt like sea food, so I opened a can of clams and made a clam sauce with white wine and cooked some linguinni, and ta-da! Dinner is ready in 15 minutes!! Tomorrow I'm going to pick up the ceramics that are in the kiln for bisque and bring them home to start glaizing!! John and I went in the desert behind the house for pictures of the snow and of course, he was looking for old car parts as well...

Homemade ceramic tiles

After dinner Chloe (my 4 year old daughter) and I painted our first batch of ceramic tiles for our mosaic in the kids bathroom! She was so excited! I was using a new glaze called Duncan - ocean mist. She ate all her food and chewed with her mouth closed and got to eat dessert! (New rules: no manners=no dessert) I made banana pudin and it was de-li-cious!

Cardinals x Steelers

What a game! Too bad we lost... But the party was great and the kids had so much fun! I painted little cardinals on their faces! We had 10 people over for a party! I made a delicious artichoke + spinach dip! And the pita chips from Costco are out of this world... We drunk strawberries margaritas (Arriba Mexico!) and some strawberries caipirinhas with cachaca

Favorite Breakfast for a rainny day: My grandmother's fried bread with butter!

This morning pinnacle Peak under the clounds!

This is me and my beautiful family: My 3 puppies and my love John. This picture I took with my tripod behind our house. I have a simple, but busy life, and besides being 24 x 7 mom and wife, I'm just starting a new business! Weee
In the free time my passion is ceramics. I also like knitting, mosaic, running and now I'm a blogger.
